The story behind Niyunā
The story of Niyunā begins with two entrepreneurial sisters from the north of the Netherlands, sharing a passion for hospitality and creating places where guests instantly feel at home.
That passion led them to Texel, an island they love to visit with their families. In 2023, a unique opportunity arose: the former Hotel Koogerend. What followed was a complete transformation, starting in 2025, with a clear vision — to create a place centred around tranquillity, privacy and a high-end wellness experience.
The name Niyunā is inspired by Sanskrit roots and reflects turning inward, connection and coming together.
With this vision, Koogerend has been reimagined as Niyunā: a home-away-from-home where you can slow down, reconnect and recharge.
The Niyunā experience
At Niyunā, everything revolves around how you feel from the moment you arrive. No reception or fixed schedules, just the freedom of your own space. You open the door, put your bags down and the sense of calm begins instantly.
The interiors are inspired by the relaxed atmosphere of the Balearic Islands: warm tones, natural materials and an effortless, understated aesthetic that immediately puts you at ease.

Niyunā consists of 10 luxury wellness apartments, located on the Kogerstraat in Den Burg. The apartments vary in size and layout and are suitable for 2 to 6 guests.
Each apartment features a fully equipped kitchen and a comfortable living area. Depending on the type, additional features include a Finnish sauna, freestanding bath, en-suite bathroom, balcony or terrace.
With its central location on Texel, the beach, nature reserves and the village centre are always close by — ideal for both short and longer stays on the island.
